With a history of 1,500 years, many people visit for the first shrine visit of the year. The ‘Sagari Miya’, where the main hall is located lower than the torii gate, is famous. The brightly colored lacquered shrine building was built by the third Tokugawa shogun, Iemitsu. It is a national important cultural property. Many ancient rituals are still performed today.
