Byakui-Kannon

The Kannon statue overlooks Takasaki from the highlands, watching over the city and its citizens. The view from the top is wonderful.

The 41.8m tall reinforced concrete Kannon statue, standing at an altitude of 190m, is a symbol of Takasaki City built in 1936. Inside, 20 Buddhist statues are enshrined, and if you climb the 146 steps to the top floor, you can see the city, mountains, and even the Yatsugatake mountain range.
